The Florida State Button Society has set the dates for its annual show and convention. January 15th-18th, the three day weekend of Martin Luther King's birthday, has been chosen for the 1999 show and meeting.
According to show chairman, Lise McIntyre of Tarpon Springs, FL, this move to a weekend show is a big one. "Our previous shows have traditionally been held during the week, but with local clubs and the state society all growing, the decision was made to hold this show over a weekend to help boost attendance, for collectors and the curious alike." McIntyre states that the 1998 show had a record attendance of over 450 people and the planning committee is anticipating 500 or more show goers in January of 1999.
The dealer show rooms will be open on Friday, Jan. 15th, Saturday, Jan. 16th, & Sunday, Jan. 17th from 9am-5pm and on Monday the 18th from 9am-2pm. There will be a judged competition. This show is being hosted by the Bay Area Button Club, which serves the Tampa Bay region.
